New Castle, DE (April 15, 2022) – Authorities in New Castle were called to the scene of a crash involving a fire truck and a semi-trailer on Thursday, April 14th. The accident took place around 7:00 p.m. on Interstate 295 near the exit for Landers Lane.
According to reports, a Minqudale Fire Company truck was on its way to another crash scene when the fire truck was hit by a tractor-trailer that was traveling on I-295. The fire truck driver lost control of his vehicle and struck a guardrail. The truck then overturned on the shoulder of the roadway. Several firefighters inside the truck were trapped but were later extricated by rescue workers. Three firefighters were taken to a local hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured in the crash. None of those involved have been identified.
An investigation into the accident is underway. There is no further information available at this time.
