Biddles Corner, DE (May 3, 2022) – The Delaware State Police responded to the scene of a serious accident involving two construction vehicles in the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 3rd. The crash took place around 4:00 a.m. in Biddles Corner along Route 1 at a toll plaza.
According to reports from the DSP, one construction vehicle collided with another construction vehicle in the EZ Pass lanes of the toll road. Firefighters and paramedics from New Castle County arrived at the scene just after the accident occurred. The driver of one of the vehicles was treated at the scene and was then taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of a serious leg injury. Prior to being transported, the driver was trapped inside his truck for about 20 minutes and had to be extricated from the vehicle.
The crash caused the road to be closed for nearly three hours pending an investigation and clearing the area. During that time, motorists were advised to find alternate routes of travel if possible. The victim’s identity has not been released.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing. There is no further information available.
