New Castle, DE (May 29, 2022) – A worker with the Delaware Department of Transportation was injured in an early morning crash in New Castle. The accident happened around 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 28th along Route 1 northbound near Route 273.
Police say that the employee was in a DelDOT truck at the scene when the truck was hit from behind by a car traveling northbound. Two workers inside the truck suffered injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment. The nature and extent of the injuries are not available at this time. The crash caused Route 1 to be closed for several hours while the Delaware State Police investigated the collision. In the meantime, all lanes of Route 1 northbound were closed while an investigation was ongoing. Those involved have not been identified at this time.
Police are still investigating the accident at this time. There is no additional information available.
