Middletown, DE (June 6, 2022) – Troopers with the Delaware State Police are investigating following a fatal crash between a motorcycle and a vehicle on Sunday, June 5th. The crash happened around 2:40 a.m. on Bunker Hill Road in Middletown.
According to a report from the DSP, a 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling in a westbound direction on Bunker Hill Road. At the same time, a 2005 Harley Davidson and another motorcycle were both traveling westbound on Bunker Hill. The driver of the Jeep stopped to make a left turn onto Winfield Lane. As the driver turned, he collided with the Harley Davidson bike as the front of the bike hit the driver-side door of the Jeep. The Harley then spun around counterclockwise and came to rest in a nearby driveway. The rider was ejected from his motorcycle. The other motorcycle did not strike the Jeep and that rider fled the scene.
The 46-year-old male driver of the Jeep was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Harley, a 25-year-old man from Newark died at the scene. His identity has not been released pending family notification.
The crash remains under investigation by the DSP. Anyone with information is urged to contact the DSP or Delaware Crime Stoppers. No further details are available.
