Seaford, DE (August 27, 2022) – The Delaware State Police were called to investigate a fatal crash in Seaford during the early morning hours of Saturday, August 27th. The incident happened just after 6:00 a.m. on Route 13, north of Camp Road.
Police say that a 29-year-old woman from Seaford was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee northbound. At the same time, a GMC Sierra pickup truck was traveling in the same direction in front of the Jeep. The Jeep collided with the Sierra then spun around and flipped before coming to rest in the grass median. The Sierra was pushed forward and it came to a stop on the side of the road. The driver of the Sierra fled the scene of the accident.
The female Jeep driver was taken to an area hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. Her identification is pending next-of-kin notification. Police have not located or identified the driver of the Sierra. The road was closed for about four hours while the crash was investigated.
An investigation is underway at this time. Anyone with details on the collision is asked to contact the Delaware State Police.
