New Castle, DE (September 19, 2022) – Officials in New Castle responded to the scene of an injury accident on Friday evening, September 16th. The incident was reported around 3:00 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-95 near Route 896.
The Delaware State Police, along with rescue workers, were at the scene shortly after the crash occurred. When officials arrived, they found at least one person trapped inside one of the wrecked vehicles. The victim suffered injuries and had to be extricated by firefighters before being airlifted for emergency medical assistance. There is no information on the cause of the accident or the condition of the injured victim. Police blocked the road for several hours while they investigated. As traffic backed up at the scene, drivers were asked to avoid the area if possible. It is not clear if any charges will be filed.
