Newark, DE (October 21, 2022) – The Delaware State Police responded to an injury accident in Newark on Thursday morning, October 20th. The crash happened just after 11:30 a.m. on Interstate 95 just south of the JFK Service Area.
According to a report, a 21-year-old male from Newark was driving a Tesla Model 3 in the southbound lanes of I-95. The driver was traveling at a high rate of speed. As an officer attempted a traffic stop, the Tesla sped up and made a left turn across a median. The driver then lost control of his vehicle, causing it to slide sideways and collided with a 2018 Chevy Equinox. The Equinox then hit a 2018 Subaru Forester. The drivers of the Chevy and the Subaru were both taken to local hospitals where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The Tesla driver was also treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police are still investigating the crash at this time. There are charges pending the conclusion of the investigation.
