Newark, DE (November 4, 2022) – Police and rescue workers responded to the scene of a serious traffic accident near Newark on Friday, November 4th. The accident happened just before 9:00 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 near the Newark Welcome Center.
According to a report from authorities, a man was driving an SUV in the northbound lanes when he collided with a tractor-trailer. The vehicle became wedged underneath the truck. Fire crews arrived to extricate the 32-year-old victim. He was taken to Christiana Hospital where he was listed in critical condition with head and internal injuries. The Delaware State Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident. Heavy fog was observed in the area at the time. The victim’s identity has not been released.
The road remained closed for several hours while an investigation was conducted. No further information has been released at this time.
