Dover, DE (December 14, 2022) – A 36-year-old bicyclist was killed in a crash that took place in Dover on Tuesday evening, December 13th. The accident happened around 6:45 p.m. at the intersection of South DuPont Highway and Webbs Lane.
According to a report from the Delaware State Police, a 22-year-old man from Maryland was operating a vehicle on South DuPont Highway when he failed to stop for a red light. The man proceeded through an intersection and struck a 36-year-old bicyclist who was riding in the middle lane. The driver of the car then pulled into the left land and struck another cyclist, a 37-year-old man.
The 37-year-old man suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at a local hospital. The 36-year-old sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. Neither of the bicyclists was identified. The driver of the car was not hurt.
Police are still investigating at this time. There is no word on any charges. No additional information is available.
