Lewes, DE (December 25, 2022) – Officials in Lewes were called to the scene of a triple fatal crash on Christmas Eve. The accident was reported around 8:00 p.m. on Lewes-Georgetown Highway near the intersection with Minos Conway Road.
According to a report from the Delaware State Police, a 2008 Honday Odyssey was being operated by a 42-year-old male from Temple, PA. The man was in the southbound lanes and was stopped at a traffic light. He attempted to make a left turn but proceeded into the path of an oncoming Land Rover. The two cars collided with each other, and then the Land Rover continued in the westbound lanes and rotated counterclockwise before coming to a stop. The Honda came to a stop in the eastbound lanes.
The driver of the Honda was taken to a hospital and treated for minor injuries. Three occupants of the Honda, a 35-year-old female, a 9-year-old female, and a 74-year-old male, were all killed in the accident. The driver of the Land Rover fled the scene and has not been located at this time.
The road was closed for about four hours while police investigated the accident. There is no word on any potential charges at this time. An investigation continues.
