Millsboro, DE (February 8, 2023) – Troopers with the Delaware State Police have identified the victim of a pedestrian crash in Millsboro. The accident originally happened around 12:45 p.m. on Friday, February 3rd.
At that time, troopers were dispatched to the parking lot of Back Bay Shopping Center at John J. Williams Highway and Bay Farm Road. According to a report, a 2013 Jeep Wrangler was traveling through the parking lot when the driver struck a 62-year-old female pedestrian. The woman, from Georgetown, Delaware, was later identified as Karen Shiles.
Shiles was rushed to a hospital via helicopter, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The 60-year-old female driver of the Jeep was not hurt. The crash remains under investigation at this time.
