Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash in New Castle
Hit-and-run accidents frequently occur in Delaware. It is estimated that about 15 to 20 percent of all reported crashes will be classified as a hit-and-run, meaning that at least one of the motorists involved fled the scene before police could arrive. All drivers are legally required to remain at the crash scene when they have been involved in an accident. Many people, however, will ignore this law and flee anyway. When these drivers are located, they will face both criminal and civil liability for their actions.
Hit-and-run crash cases are some of the most difficult to handle. Initially, the driver who caused the crash may never be located. In this instance, there may be an issue with available insurance coverage. Under Delaware law, accident victims may be able to utilize their own insurance policies to find available compensation. A good lawyer will be able to locate all available policies and help to secure the compensation that you need and deserve.
