Milford, DE (March 23, 2023) – A 30-year-old woman from Clayton was killed in a two-vehicle accident near Milton on Thursday morning, March 22nd. The accident happened around 6:45 a.m. on Route 1 near the intersection with Route 5.
According to a report from authorities, a 30-year-old woman was driving a 2011 Ford Fiesta southbound on Route 1. At the same time, a 2022 Ford Escort, operated by an 81-year-old man, pulled in front of her vehicle. The two vehicles collided with each other. The driver of the Fiesta was rushed to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the Escort and a 75-year-old female passenger from Millsboro were taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. No one else was hurt in the accident. The identities of those involved have not been released.
Both directions of the roadway were closed for about three hours while police cleared the scene. Drivers were advised to find alternate routes of travel during this time. An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
