According to a report from the Delaware State Police, a car traveling westbound tried to pass another vehicle but swiped the car instead. The passing vehicle then veered into the eastbound lanes and collided head-on with a third car that was traveling in the opposite direction. The driver of the third car, a 63-year-old man, suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the collision. The driver of the passing car, a 24-year-old man, was airlifted to a local hospital for traumatic injuries. The driver of the car that was passed was not hurt.
The involved victims have not been identified at this time. Motorists were advised to avoid the scene and to find an alternate route of travel if possible. Police have not said whether any charges are expected to be filed in connection with the collision. An investigation is underway.
