According to an initial report, a car was traveling on Red Lion when the driver slowed down to make a right turn onto Hunters Run. A 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling directly behind the vehicle. The car that was attempting to turn right was partially in a turn lane and partially in a through lane. The motorcycle swerved to travel around the car. As the rider maneuvered around the first car, he traveled into the path of a Hyundai that was turning left from the opposite direction. The front of the motorcycle struck the right side of the Hyundai, ejecting the rider.
The 28-year-old male operator of the Harley was rushed to an area hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. His identity is pending family notification. The driver of the Hyundai was not hurt in the crash.
Red Lion Road was shut down for about four hours while an investigation was conducted. The investigation is still ongoing at this time. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Delaware State Police or the Delaware Crime Stoppers.
There is no additional information available at this time.
We would like to offer our condolences to the family of the deceased victim following this deadly motorcycle crash in Bear.
