Newark, DE (May 9, 2023) – Officials in Newark are investigating a serious pedestrian crash on Sunday morning, May 7th. The accident took place just after 6:00 a.m. in the 100 block of South College Avenue.
Police say that a 60-year-old man was walking on South College Avenue when he was hit by a car. Paramedics and fire crews were dispatched to the scene to provide treatment to the injured man. After being treated at the scene, he was rushed to Christiana Hospital, where he suffered serious injuries to his head and extremities. He also suffered possible internal injuries.
The man was listed in critical condition at the hospital. There is no word on the events leading up to the accident or whether any other injuries were reported. Motorists were advised to avoid the scene and to find an alternate route of travel. An investigation is ongoing at this time.
