Fatal Car Accidents in Delaware
Fatal car accidents happen often in Delaware. Unfortunately, many of these accidents will claim the lives of innocent motorists. According to the Delaware Department of Transportation, about 160 people are killed in crashes on Delaware’s roadways annually. These accidents are most often caused by careless and reckless drivers. Motorists who are impaired, distracted, or otherwise not following traffic laws will frequently contribute to major crashes.
Police must carefully investigate the cause of every accident in order to determine how it occurred and which driver should be held responsible. Certainly, there is nothing more devastating than the loss of a family member due to a Delaware car accident. While this is undoubtedly a difficult time in your life, there is legal help available.
Delaware law allows motorists to file a wrongful death claim if their loved one was killed in a crash that was not their fault. These claims are filed in order to recover compensation for the loss of your family member. While there is no amount of money that can fully compensate for your loss, the money that you receive can help to offset some of the unexpected expenses that you are facing.
