According to the New Castle County Police, a 2004 Ford Ranger was traveling on Canoe Club Road when the driver struck a one-year-old boy in the 500 block of the road. Paramedics rushed to the scene and transported the boy to DuPont Children’s Hospital where he was listed in critical condition. The 55-year-old Ranger driver has not been identified at this time. There were no other vehicles or individuals involved in the accident.
The road was closed for several hours while an investigation was conducted. There is no word on how the accident took place at this time. It is unknown whether any charges are expected. Anyone with information is asked to contact the New Castle County Police.
