According to officials, Bruce Peterson, of Millsboro, was walking in the road when he was hit by a Chrysler 300. The Escort was traveling eastbound on Long Neck Road at the time of the crash. Peterson was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. He succumbed to his injuries on Friday. There were no other injuries reported. The driver of the Chrysler was not identified.
Police closed the road for about three hours while they conducted an investigation. Motorists were asked to avoid the area and to find an alternate route of travel if possible. It is not known if any charges will be filed in connection with the accident.
