Townsend, DE (December 1, 2023) – An elderly man was hurt in a two-vehicle crash that took place in Townsend on Friday, December 1st. The accident happened just after 10:00 a.m. on Eagles Nest Landing Road near Gum Bush Road.
According to reports, two sedans were involved in the collision. One of the cars crashed into a utility pole following the initial impact and then collided with a tree. An 81-year-old male driver of one of the cars was trapped inside his vehicle following the accident. Paramedics arrived at the scene and helped to extricate the man from his car. After being rescued, he was taken to Christiana Hospital where he was treated for serious injuries. The man’s identity has not been released at this time. There is no information on what caused the accident to occur.
Police shut down the road while they investigated the accident. Drivers were told to avoid the area. It is not known if any charges are expected to be filed in connection with the crash. An investigation is underway. No further information is available.
