Milford, DE (January 20, 2024) – Authorities in Milford have identified the victim of a fatal multi-car crash that took place on Thursday morning, January 18th. The accident was reported in the southbound lanes of State Route 1.
Officials say that 78-year-old Larry Cox was involving in a crash with another vehicle. Following the accident, Cox exited his car and began walking across the southbound lanes of the highway. While crossing the road, he was struck by a 2013 Toyota Sienna that was traveling south on SR 1. The Sienna then collided with another car after striking Cox. Rescue crews arrived at the scene and provided treatment to Cox, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Two other victims were hurt and sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision.
The southbound lanes of Route 1 were closed for several hours while police investigated the collision. Drivers were told to avoid the scene and to find alternate routes of travel. No additional details have been released at this time.
