Georgetown, DE (March 2, 2024) – The Delaware State Police responded to the scene of a fatal two-vehicle accident on Thursday, February 29th. The accident occurred just after 7:40 a.m.in the westbound lanes of Shortly Road near Bull Pine Road.
According to officials, a 2020 Volvo VHD container truck was traveling westbound on Shortly Road near the Bull Pine Road intersection. At the same time, a 2008 Honda Civic was traveling southbound on Bull Pine Road, near the stop sign with Shortly Road. For unknown reasons, the Civic failed to stop at the stop sign and entered the intersection, causing a crash with the Volvo truck. The Volvo then traveled over the Honda and overturned.
The 34-year-old female Honda driver died at the crash scene. A 29-year-old female passenger was airlifted to a trauma hospital in critical condition. The driver of the Volvo truck, a 59-year-old Millsboro man, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. None of the victims have been identified at this time. The crash remains under investigation and no further information is available.
