Lewes, DE (March 9, 2024) – A woman riding a bicycle was killed in a collision that took place in Lewes earlier this week. The incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5th.
Police responded to he scene in the eastbound lanes of Route 24 near Mulberry Road. According to a report from the scene, 58-year-old Lisa Norton was riding her bike when she was hit by a 2020 Isuzu six-wheel box truck that was also traveling eastbound on Route 24. Norton sustained life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the box truck, a 60-year-old man from Salisbury, was not hurt in the crash.
The road was closed for approximately two hours following the accident as the crash was investigated and police cleared the area. The collision remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police. There is no additional information available.
