Wilmington, DE (March 17, 2024) – A man was killed in a multi-car accident in Wilmington on Saturday morning, March 16th. The crash took place around 2:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 495.
According to a Delaware State Police report, a green 1998 Honda Accord was traveling behind a tractor-trailer when the driver rear-ended the truck. The Accord driver stopped and got out of his vehicle. At the same time, a black Honda Accord was also traveling northbound on I-495 when the driver collided with the back of green Honda that was partially in the right-hand travel lane. The black Honda caught fire following the collision and the driver died at the accident scene. His name was not released pending family notification. There is no word on any other injuries suffered as a result of the crash.
Police closed the road while they investigated. There is no word on whether any charges will be filed. An investigation is ongoing.
