Newark, DE (April 13, 2024) – The Delaware State Police responded to the scene of a fatal two-car collision on Wednesday night, April 10th. The crash occurred just after 10:00 p.m. on Route 72, south of Route 40.
According to a report, 57-year-old Ralene Commodore and her passenger, 38-year-old Roger Stanford were driving a car northbound on Route 72 when Commodore tried to make a left turn onto Mabel Lane. As she turned, Commodore collided head-on with a southbound vehicle driven by a 38-year-old man from Middletown. The two cars both suffered major damage in the accident. Both Commodore and Stanford died as a result of the crash. The 38-year-old driver of the second vehicle was taken to Christiana Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The incident remains under investigation at this time. There is no additional information available.
