Newark, DE (October 18, 2024) – A fatal two-car crash occurred on Friday, October 18, leaving one man dead and prompting an investigation by the Delaware State Police. The incident took place around 7:11 p.m. at the intersection of Paper Mill Road and Polly Drummond Hill Road.
According to the Delaware State Police, a Toyota Avalon was traveling southbound in the left turn lane on Paper Mill Rd when it began to make a left turn. Simultaneously, a Nissan Rogue was heading northbound, and both cars entered the intersection. The front of the Nissan struck the front of the Toyota, causing the Nissan to overturn after hitting a curb and colliding with a traffic signal pole. Emergency responders transported the 82-year-old driver of the Toyota to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His identity is being withheld pending family notification. The 25-year-old driver of the Nissan and a 3-year-old child were also taken to the hospital but sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
