Cheswold, DE (November 14, 2024) – An injury multi-car crash occurred on November 14 involving a high-speed police pursuit that ended in a violent collision at the intersection of North DuPont Highway and Main Street in Cheswold, Delaware. The crash left three individuals injured, including two who were airlifted to nearby hospitals.
According to the Delaware State Police, officers initiated the pursuit of a car traveling northbound on N DuPont Hwy, just outside of Dover. The chase reached speeds exceeding 115 mph as the suspect attempted to evade authorities. The pursuit ended when the car being chased collided with another car at the intersection, causing the fleeing car to crash into a utility pole and trapping one of its occupants inside.
Three people were found injured. One of the occupants of the car struck in the intersection, a woman in her 50s, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Christiana Hospital for further treatment. The driver of the fleeing car, also critically injured, was airlifted to the same hospital. A third individual, whose role in the crash remains unclear, was transported to Bayhealth Hospital in Dover for medical evaluation. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are working to determine if criminal charges will be filed.
