New Castle County, DE (December 19, 2024) – An injury truck crash occurred on Wednesday evening on Summit Bridge Rd near Brennan Blvd, leaving one man in critical condition. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene at approximately 7:34 p.m. after reports of a collision involving an SUV and a heavy-duty truck with entrapment.
Upon arrival, units from the Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown, Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder Company, and New Castle County Paramedics discovered that three individuals were involved in the crash. The two vehicles collided, and the fire department worked quickly to extricate the victims from the wreckage.
One of the victims, a 46-year-old male, was found in critical condition with extremity injuries, head and neck injuries, and possible internal injuries. He was airlifted by Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 4 to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care. Another victim, a 54-year-old male, sustained back injuries and was transported to the hospital in stable condition by Volunteer Hose Company ambulance. A third individual, a 25-year-old male, declined transport and was not taken to the hospital.
Local authorities managed the situation, controlling traffic and securing the area to allow emergency vehicles to pass through. Firefighters worked tirelessly to ensure the safe extrication of the victims from the wrecked vehicles.
