Newark, DE (December 20, 2024) – A serious head-on car crash occurred on Friday afternoon in the 1200 block of Old Baltimore Pike, west of Route 896, sending two individuals to the hospital. The incident, reported by the Delaware State Police, took place around 4:30 p.m.
According to initial reports, one of the drivers crossed into oncoming traffic, resulting in a collision with another car. A 20-something-year-old woman was trapped in her car, while a 17-year-old male driver had managed to extricate himself before emergency responders arrived at the scene.
Rescue crews from Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder, and New Castle County Paramedics were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, firefighters began the process of extricating the woman from her car, and paramedics worked to stabilize both individuals. At 4:48 p.m., the female driver was successfully removed from the car and both patients were transported by ambulance to Christiana Hospital with injuries, the extent of which remain undetermined.
