Lewes, DE (January 31, 2025) – A fatal pedestrian crash occurred on January 30 in Lewes, resulting in the death of a 63-year-old woman from Milton. The incident, reported by the Delaware State Police, happened around 3:22 p.m. in the parking lot of Weis Markets located at 17232 North Village Main Boulevard.
According to authorities, a black 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling southbound through the parking lot when it hit the pedestrian, who was walking westbound and crossing in front of the car. It remains unclear why the Jeep continued southbound as the pedestrian crossed the lane.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, and the injured pedestrian was transported to a local hospital. Unfortunately, she was later pronounced dead. The Delaware State Police have not released her name pending family notification.
The Jeep’s driver, an 86-year-old man from Lewes, was not injured in the crash.
