Camden, DE (February 1, 2025) – A hit-and-run accident in Camden claimed the life of a 93-year-old man early Friday morning.
The crash happened at approximately 6:30 a.m. on January 31. According to the Delaware State Police, an unknown vehicle was traveling southbound on South Dupont Highway near Caboose Lane when it struck a pedestrian who was attempting to cross the southbound lanes. The driver of the vehicle did not stop and continued south.
Following the initial impact, the pedestrian was struck by additional vehicles, none of which remained at the scene. Emergency responders arrived and pronounced the man dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released, pending notification of his family.
Authorities shut down South Dupont Highway for about four hours while investigators gathered evidence and cleared the scene. The Delaware State Police Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate the incident. Anyone with information is urged to come forward.
