Middletown, DE (February 17, 2025) – A fatal car crash occurred on Saturday, February 15 in Middletown, resulting in the death of one individual and injuries to another. The incident, reported by the Delaware State Police, happened at approximately 8:09 p.m. on Dupont Parkway (US-13) just north of Marl Pit Road.
According to authorities, a Toyota Prius was traveling northbound in the left lane of Dupont Pkwy southbound, operating in the wrong direction. At the same time, a Ford Mustang was traveling southbound in the left lane of the same roadway. The two cars collided nearly head-on, with their front left sides making impact.
Emergency responders, including paramedics and firefighters, arrived promptly at the scene. The driver of the Toyota Prius, a 58-year-old man from Bear, sustained critical injuries and was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.
A 24-year-old woman from Smyrna, a passenger in the Ford Mustang, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities did not provide details regarding the driver of the Mustang.
The roadway remained closed for approximately five hours while the Delaware State Police Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit conducted its investigation and emergency crews worked to clear the wreckage.
