Our deepest condolences go out to the family of the deceased victim, and we also hope the injured driver makes a full recovery.
Truck Accidents in Delaware
Delaware’s highways and rural roads see a significant number of truck-related accidents each year. Given the size and weight of commercial trucks, crashes involving smaller vehicles often result in severe injuries or fatalities. Intersections and two-lane roads, such as Hudson Road, can be especially dangerous when large trucks and passenger vehicles collide head-on.
Some key factors that contribute to truck accidents include:
- Lane Drifting and Crossing Center Lines: Fatigue, distractions, or mechanical failures can cause a vehicle to drift into oncoming traffic, leading to head-on collisions like this one.
- Limited Maneuverability of Trucks: Large commercial trucks require more time and distance to stop or avoid sudden hazards. When a passenger vehicle crosses into their lane, truck drivers may be unable to react in time.
- Roadway Conditions: Narrow roads, sharp curves, and low visibility can all contribute to serious crashes, especially when large vehicles are involved.
- Driver Fatigue: Truck drivers often spend long hours on the road, increasing the risk of drowsy driving. Fatigue-related crashes can be especially dangerous due to delayed reaction times and impaired judgment.
