Millsboro, DE (April 17, 2022) – Officials in Millsboro responded to a crash involving two cars early Saturday morning. The accident happened on Route 24 near the intersection with Washington Street.
The Delaware State Police was among the first agencies at the scene. According to a spokesperson, a 25-year-old man was operating a GMC Acadia when he fell asleep at the wheel. The Acadia crossed into the oncoming travel lanes and collided head-on with a transit van. A total of eight people were injured in the crash and were taken to area hospitals. The Acadia driver was transported for serious injuries. There is no word on the extent of the other injuries sustained. The victims have not been identified.
Following an investigation, police charged the Acadia driver with failing to remain in a single lane. The road was closed for over three hours while an investigation was conducted. Drivers were asked to avoid the area and to find an alternate route of travel if possible.
