New Castle, DE (June 10, 2022) – One man was killed in a motorcycle accident on Wednesday night in New Castle. The crash occurred around 8:15 p.m. on Route 13.
The Delaware State Police responded to the crash scene. According to troopers, a motorcycle pulled out of a parking lot and tried to cross the northbound lanes to get into a left turn lane. As the motorcyclist attempted to merge into the turn line, his motorcycle was hit by a second motorcycle. Both riders were ejected and landed in the roadway.
The rider of the second motorcycle, a 39-year-old man from New Castle, died on Thursday at a hospital. The rider of the first motorcycle, a 21-year-old Dover man was treated at a hospital for serious injuries. Neither man has been identified at this time. Drivers were told to avoid the area and to find alternate routes of travel if possible.
The DSP Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating the accident at this time. There is no information on whether any charges will be filed.
