Lewes, DE (September 25, 2022) – A man riding a bicycle was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Lewes on Saturday, September 24th. The accident was reported around 7:00 p.m. on Fisher Road, just west of Beaver Dam Road.
According to police, a white truck was traveling westbound and was traveling behind the cyclist. The truck then struck the right side of the bicycle, throwing the man from his bike and onto a grassy shoulder. The truck did not stop after the collision, with the driver continuing westbound on Fisher Road. The rider was seriously hurt and was transported to a local hospital where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. His identity is being withheld at this pending family notification.
The driver of the truck has not been identified. Police believe that the vehicle is a 2004 to 2008 Ford truck. The truck has damage to its right front headlight and passenger side mirror.
There were no other cars involved in the crash. An investigation is ongoing at this time.
