New Castle, DE (November 8, 2022) – A pedestrian has died after she was injured in a crash that took place in New Castle last week. The incident occurred on Wednesday, November 2nd on New Castle Avenue near Rodney Drive.
According to the Delaware State Police, 74-year-old Mireille Mathis of Greenville, South Carolina was walking westbound on New Castle Avenue when she was struck by a Jeep that was traveling northbound. Mathis was taken to a hospital after the crash. She succumbed to her injuries on Monday, November 7th. No other injuries were reported as a result of the accident. The driver of the vehicle has not been identified at this time. There is no word on whether police intend to file charges in connection with the crash.
An investigation remains ongoing at this time. There is no additional information available.
