Newark, DE (December 28, 2022) – The Delaware State Police responded to the scene of a fatal car accident on Tuesday night, December 27th. The crash was reported just before 9:00 p.m. on Route 4 near Harmony Road.
According to troopers, 29-year-old Christopher McCabe of Newark was driving a vehicle at a high rate of speed when he collided with a car that had made a U-turn at the intersection. The 16-year-old male driver of the second car was critically hurt. He was rushed to Christiana Hospital, where he died on Wednesday morning. A 16-year-old passenger in the vehicle was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Following an investigation, police charged McCabe with vehicular assault and DUI. He was booked into jail under a $15,000 bail. No additional information has been released.
