Police say that Larry Mills tried to cross the highway in a southbound direction. As he crossed, he was hit by a car driven by a 39-year-old Newark woman. An ambulance arrived at the scene and treated Mills before taking him to a local hospital. Mills later died at the hospital. The Newark woman was not hurt in the accident. There were no other vehicles involved, and there are no reports of any other injuries.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation. No further information is available at this time.
