Newark, DE – UPDATE: Sabrina Navaretta Identified in Library Ave. Car Accident

Newark, DE (April 30, 2023) – Police in Newark have identified the victim of a fatal car accident that took place on Library Avenue. The crash happened around 10:30 p.m. on Friday night, April 28th.

According to authorities, a 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling southbound on Library Avenue approaching Wyoming Road. At the same time, a 2021 Toyota Corolla was traveling northbound on Library Avenue. The Toyota tried to turn left but collided with the oncoming Jeep. A front-seat passenger in the Toyota was trapped and had to be extricated by rescue officials. The passenger later died from her injuries.

On Sunday, authorities identified the victim as 18-year-old Sabrina Navaretta, a student at the University of Delaware. Several other victims were injured and were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The accident remains under investigation at this time. There is no further information available.
