Newark, DE (May 30, 2023) – The victim of a serious crash in Newark has now been identified by authorities. The crash originally took place around 4:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, May 28th.
According to a report from the scene, James Haddix, an off-duty police officer, was returning home from work. As Haddix operated his vehicle on Christina Parkway, another driver crossed the center line and collided with his vehicle head-on. Haddix suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Christiana Hospital, where he was listed in serious but stable condition. The driver of the other vehicle was also hurt. Police believe that the second driver was impaired at the time of the crash. There were no other vehicles or individuals involved.
The accident remains under investigation by the Newark Police Department. There is no further information available.
