According to an initial report from the Delaware State Police, a Ford Ranger was traveling on Dupont at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of the truck. The Ranger veered into the median and struck a sign before coming back on the road and leaving on the right-hand shoulder. The truck then overturned, ejecting both occupants. Two men, ages 29 and 30, were pronounced dead at the scene.
On Monday, police identified the driver as 30-year-old Joseph McIlvain and the passenger as 29-year-old Shane Pennell, both of Milford. There were no other vehicles or injuries involved in the accident.
Both directions of the road were temporarily closed as police conducted an investigation. Motorists were advised to avoid the area and to find an alternate route of travel during this time.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Anyone with details is asked to contact the Delaware State Police. There is no further information available.
