Felton, DE (July 5, 2023) – A woman who was killed in a crash in Felton has now been identified by authorities. The accident was reported on Sunday, July 2nd around 7:00 p.m.
Troopers with the Delaware State Police say that 87-year-old Margie Spain lost her life in the collision. The crash happened when the driver of a green 2005 Cadillac CTS lost control of their car in the southbound lanes of Route 13. The Cadillac crossed the center median and collided head-on with a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. Both vehicles spun around before coming to rest on a grassy shoulder.
Spain was an occupant of the Jeep at the time of the crash. She sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Several other victims suffered injuries that were believed to be non-life-threatening.
The highway was closed for about four hours after the accident. The DSP’s Crash Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating the collision at this time.
