Felton, DE (September 14, 2023) – The Delaware State Police were called to the scene of a fatal crash on Wednesday, September 13th. The accident happened around 7:30 a.m. on Sandtown Road near the intersection with Burnite Mill Road.
According to officials, a 2016 Volvo truck was pulling a trailer and traveling on Sandtown Road when the driver came to a stop sign at the Burnite Mill intersection. At the same time, a 2003 Ford F65 was traveling westbound on Burnite Mill approaching the Sandtown intersection. The Volvo made a turn onto Burnite Mill and entered the path of the Ford. The two cars collided, causing the Ford to travel underneath the Volvo’s trailer. Both cars left the roadway and came to rest in a nearby soybean field.
The driver of the Ford, a 44-year-old man from Woodside, died at the scene. The Volvo driver was not injured. The road was closed for about 5 hours while the accident was investigated. The identity of the victim has not been released at this time.
The Delaware State Police are investigating the collision. There is no further information available.
