Milford, DE (January 19, 2024) – Troopers with the Delaware State Police were called to the scene of a fatal car accident on Thursday morning, January 18th. The crash was reported around 6:30 a.m. on Bay Road in the left-hand lane.
According to a report, a 2015 Chrysler 200 was traveling southbound on Bay Road when it was struck in the rear by a 2016 Acura TL. Both cars stopped following the collision, with the Chrysler pulling to the median and the Acura pulling onto the southbound shoulder. The driver of the Acura exited their car and walked across the southbound travel lanes where they were struck by a 2013 Toyota Sienna. The Toyota then swerved between two lanes and collided with a 2016 Ford Focus.
The Acura driver, a 78-year-old man from Smyrna, died at at the scene. His name was not immediately released. The Chrysler driver, a 28-year-old man from Dover, and its occupants, a 25-year-old woman from Camden and a 46-year-old woman from Newark, were taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The Toyota driver, a 66-year-old Laurel woman, was also treated for non-life-threatening injuries. There were no other injuries reported in the crash.
At this time, it is unknown whether any charges are expected to be filed. The accident remains under investigation. There is no additional information available.
