Wilmington, DE (June 18, 2024) – Troopers with the Delaware State Police responded to the scene of a fatal crash involving a motorcycle on Monday, June 17. The accident took place just after 9:00 p.m. in the left lane of East Newport Pike near Curtis Avenue.
According to a report, a 3010 Toyota Yaris was traveling eastbound in the left lane of the Newport Pike. At the same time, a 2003 Kawasaki motorcycle was also traveling eastbound. The motorcycle collided with the back of the Toyota, causing the rider and his passenger to be ejected from the bike. The passenger, a 32-year-old man from Wilmington, was rushed to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The rider, a 28-year-old Wilmington man, was taken to an area hospital, where he was treated for critical injuries. The Toyota driver, a 19-year-old woman from Wilmington, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. No one involved has been identified. The road was closed for about four hours while police investigated the accident and cleared the scene. No further details have been released.
