Bridgeville, DE (July 20, 2024) – The Delaware State Police are investigating after a deadly accident earlier this week. The crash was reported on Wednesday, July 17th around 1:00 a.m.
Officials responded to the scene on Sussex Highway near the intersection with Newtown Road. According to a report, a driver was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Sussex Highway when he collided head-on with a northbound vehicle. The driver of the southbound vehicle, 22-year-old Djifenson Dorilus, suffered critically and died from his injuries a day later. The northbound driver, a 46-year-old man from Millsboro, was hospitalized with serious injuries. There is no further update on his condition or the extent of his injuries. The road was closed while police investigated the crash and cleared the scene. Motorists were asked to avoid the area and to find alternate routes of travel. The cause of the accident remains under investigation. No further details are available.
