New Castle Co, DE (October 22, 2024) – An injury multi-car crash occurred on Saturday evening leaving multiple individuals injured and prompting a rapid response from emergency services. The incident took place at approximately 6:51 p.m. on Pulaski Hwy near Quintilio Dr, involving several cars engulfed in flames.
Upon arrival, units from New Castle County Paramedics, Christiana Fire Company, Delaware City Fire Company, and Delaware State Police Aviation Trooper 4 found four vehicles on fire and several individuals trapped inside. Assistant Public Information Officer Oliver Kocher reported that first responders quickly assessed the scene, ensuring the safety of all involved.
A 63-year-old woman was treated for injuries to her torso and smoke inhalation. She received additional care from New Castle County Paramedics before being transported in stable condition to Christiana Hospital via a Delaware City Fire Company ambulance. Additionally, a 43-year-old man was treated for possible internal injuries. After receiving on-scene treatment from New Castle County Paramedics, he was also transported to Christiana Hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
Two other patients were taken to the same hospital. Several additional individuals at the scene refused treatment or transport. The Delaware State Police are actively investigating the crash, and traffic was diverted around the area as authorities worked to control the situation.
