Greenville, DE (December 12, 2024) – An injury multi-car crash occurred on Wednesday afternoon in Greenville, leaving several individuals injured. The incident, reported by Delaware State Police, took place at approximately 1:27 p.m. at the intersection of Kennett Pike (Rte 52) and Old Kennett Rd.
According to the Delaware State Police, 58-year-old Frank Yacona of Boothwyn, Pennsylvania, was driving a green 2000 Ford F-150 southbound on Kennett Pike when he struck a black 2016 Nissan Frontier that was stopped at a red light. The F-150 continued forward and collided with a white 2017 Nissan Rogue, causing the Rogue to roll over onto its roof.
The 74-year-old driver of the Nissan Rogue was severely injured and was rushed to a nearby hospital by paramedics. The 70-year-old passenger of the Rogue and the 38-year-old driver of the Nissan Frontier sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were also transported to the hospital.
The crash caused a significant traffic disruption, with first responders controlling the scene to ensure public safety. Firefighters were involved in the extraction of the injured from the overturned vehicle. Delaware State Police troopers observed signs of impairment when they made contact with Yacona at the scene. After conducting field sobriety tests, Yacona was taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 1.
