Sussex County, DE (December 26, 2024) – A fatal pedestrian crash occurred early on Christmas Day in Sussex County, Delaware, resulting in the death of 29-year-old Leo Hernandez Perez of Milford, Delaware. The incident took place at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Cubbage Pond Rd near the intersection with Johnson Rd.
According to the Delaware State Police, a Toyota Tundra was traveling northbound on Cubbage Pond Rd, approaching the intersection with Johnson Rd, when it hit a pedestrian walking along the road. The driver failed to stop and fled the scene, continuing northbound. The Toyota was later found abandoned on Johnson Rd.
Emergency responders arrived on the scene, but tragically, the victim, Leo Hernandez Perez, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities closed Cubbage Pond Rd from Johnson Rd to Flea Town Rd for approximately three hours while the Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit conducted an investigation and cleared the roadway.
